Launching Our New Brand

Our new brand identity and website are launching this week! The Jamaica Center, Sutphin Boulevard, and the 165th Street Mall BIDs merged in December 2022, so this milestone marks the next phase in a major organizational transition.

We collaborated with Three Furies, a New York-based branding and communications agency, to create a new look as vibrant as our district’s busy avenues and a new website that would meet our diverse community’s needs.

We also jumped at the opportunity to brand our neighborhood for those who haven’t been here before, or might be getting us confused with the Caribbean island. Following in the tradition of New York City’s great placemakers, we also coined a new neighborhood acronym—“DJQ,” after Downtown Jamaica, Queens. Even though our name may be new, we’ve always been here. We’re excited for others to find their way here, too!

Our district map, rendered in our new brand colors.

Our new look captures the past and present of DJQ, while also looking toward our community’s future. Drawing inspiration from our dynamic district, we developed a vibrant, energetic color palette, with shades named for jazz genres pioneered by notable Queens residents.

Our new website is also sure to meet your needs. Now, you can:

There’s something for everyone in DJQ. And there’s much more to come. Keep up-to-date with the Downtown Jamaica Partnership by subscribing to our newsletter and following us on social media. And watch out for DJQ t-shirts, tote bags, window clings, and more on our busy avenues!
