Current Plans

Oral History Project

A man and woman sit on the sidewalk with a small dog, smiling for the camera. They are in an outdoor market setting with a street background, vendors' tents, and various produce on display.

With the help of DJQ volunteers, we will capture our community’s personal stories, memories, and experiences of the neighborhood, which we will share on our website and social media. We aim to build, support, celebrate, and share our community’s enthusiasm for DJQ’s history and culture.

Jamaica Area Rezoning

City street scene with multiple buildings, buses, cars, and pedestrians crossing the street. There are colorful signs for shops and advertisements on buildings, along with a small tree near the sidewalk.

Led by the Department of City Planning (DCP), the Jamaica Neighborhood Plan will provide a long-term vision for a more resilient and thriving Jamaica. The plan, developed in collaboration with local community members and organizations, would support more housing, more jobs across many industries, improvements to public space, and investments in local infrastructure. According to estimates, over 130,000+ people will benefit from this work.

Station Plaza

Night view of a city street with cars parked and moving, an elevated train station with bright lighting, and a sign that reads 'The Shops at Station Plaza'.

NYCEDC is working with the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), to improve pedestrian safety, reduce traffic congestion, and improve conditions for the more than 18,000 daily transit users that pass through Station Plaza—turning this critical intersection into a vibrant transit plaza.
