What We Do
Downtown Jamaica is a vibrant and growing community located in the heart of Queens, New York, and we are proud to help it thrive.
The Downtown Jamaica Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) manages, beautifies, and promotes DJQ. Helmed by a Board of Directors and Staff with deep community knowledge and ties, we aim to help our community achieve our fullest potential.

Our staff champions public improvements and new developments in DJQ.
Merchant Support
Sanitation and District Maintenance
Our contracted, uniformed sanitation team cleans our district seven days a week, 365 days a year from 7 AM - 6 PM. Our hardworking crew sweeps the sidewalks, cleans gutters, bags litter, and empties trashcans, rain or shine. They also wash and paint DJQ’s trash receptacles as necessary, and clean graffiti and stickers from street furniture, light poles and building surfaces. Come winter, the team removes snow from crosswalks.
Several times a week, members of our administrative team assess street conditions, identify and report broken or troublesome city infrastructure to 311, and identify other areas that can be fixed or beautified with our assistance.
Beautification and Public Art
We partner with the Department of Transportation and the Horticultural Society of New York to regularly inventory and maintain our district’s tree pits, evaluating both planting and maintenance needs.
We also partner with local artists to create public art installations for all in DJQ to enjoy. Our year-round banner program also adds flair to our street pole banners. During the dreariest months of the year, we light up our community with holiday lights.
